Last Day of the Month!

Good morning,

Just a reminder that today is the last day to get the stamp of the month for August - spend just $50 and get it for $5 or purchase it straight out for $17.95.

I've been back at work this week so not much creating going on - maybe this weekend, given that it's a long weekend, there just might be some time!

Have a great day!

Evolution of a card

Hello!

This is a card I've been playing around with.

It started off like this ...

then it became this ...

and the finally, it finished as this ...

Sometimes, you just gotta keep playing until it feels right!

All cuts were with the Artiste cartridge:
Hello, pg 65, Card (shift), 3/4"
Sign Post, pg 36, Accent 3 (shift), 2" and 1-3/4"
Sign, pg 36, Accent 1, 2" and 1-3/4"
Fence Top, pg 31, Accent 2 (shift), 3/4" (pretty sure on the size, forgot to write it down)

Paper is miscellaneous that I'm trying to use up but the ribbon is the new Burlap ribbon from CTMH.  Snipped the edges (top and bottom) and tied them in a knot for the bow at the front.

Hope you have a happy day!

Bride to Groom

A friend has asked that I make a card for her to give to her groom ... I've been throwing ideas at her and this was one of them ... made this with Tie the Knot cricut cartridge mostly except for the "Oh Happy Day" which comes from one of the Artiste companion stamp sets and the banner is cut from what else, the Artiste cartridge.  The ink is Holiday Red.

Have a great day!

New Markers from Close to My Heart!

This video explains the new markers that CTMH is producing, starting with this catalogue - they are similar to Copics in that they are alcohol based but they are not refillable. And for less than the price of one Copic, you get 2 markers that compliment each other.

Have a great day!

More Playing

I'm really loving having this time off - too bad it can't last but it makes me look forward to the next time off!

Anyway, here's what I was playing with today ... another gift card holder from the Artiste cartridge and a card ...

The gift card holder has the same measurements as the previous post so won't repeat it.  The rosette was also cut with the Artiste cartridge and since I made it the other day I'm not sure of the measurement but I want to say 1-1/2" (cut 2).  It is located on page 50 and it is the 3D object, shift 'p'.  The centre circle is punched from a 1" circle punch.  Edged and stamped with Chocolate ink.

The card is stamped from the Sweet Moments stamp set and the silhouette is cut from the Artiste cartridge at 2-3/4", pg 42, Accent 2, shift 'w'.  Frame is from the same page, no shift 'w', same size.  Ran the frame through an embossing folder to give it more texture.

Have a wonderful day!

Happy Birthday!

If it's your birthday, hope it's a happy one!

Thought I'd do some more exploring with the Artiste cartridge and made a gift card holder ... I love the colour combination of black and pink (well, actually, black and anything really!) so here's what was produced!

Gift card, page 55, Card, cut @ 5" (use double sided paper)

Ribbon, page 55, Accent 3, cut @ 1-1/4"

Happy Birthday, page 70, cut at 1-1/4"

Materials used:
CTMH double-sided paper, unknown
assorted paper that I'm trying to use up!

Have a great day!

Playing ...

Hello!

Well I've been playing with the new Artiste cartridge ... these are some of the things I've managed as I get used to how it cuts and then gets put together ... found some great youtube videos and sites to help out and once I get the links again, I'll upload them here.

Here are my versions of what I've seen just to try out - all done with scrap paper and miscellaneous materials.

Card is found on pg 75, cut at 5", inside is cut at 4-3/4" and cut in half and attached to each side - one thing I noted is that the front of the card is identical to the back of the card so I had to cut 2 of everything and also I had to snip at the collar to make it work - not sure if that is what I was supposed to do but that's what I did!  The tie and pocket are also cut at 5".  I used Slate ink and edged everything with Slate as well.

Flowers are found on Pg 54, cut at 1-3/4", leaves on same page, cut at 3/4" I think (I was playing around with the sizes, they might actually be 1/2")

Shoe is found on Pg 63, cut at 4-1/2"

I'm still in awe of everything that this cartridge is capable of and am looking forward to discovering everything!  With 700 images, that could take me awhile!

Let me know if you'd like to join me in discovering everything this cartridge is capable of and would like your own copy.  I'd like the company :)

Hope you've had a wonderful day!

Mr & Mrs

Here is my first project from the new Artiste cartridge - oh, I think I'm gonna like this cart!  The card was inspired from here and as usual, I can't seem to CASE it exactly so here is my version!  It actually came together quite quickly, even with having to figure out the measurements!

Here are my cuts:

Mr & Mrs - pg 61 - Accent 1 - cut at 2"
Card - pg 56 - Card - cut at 5"
Background behind Mr & Mrs - pg 61 - Accent 3 - cut at 3 3/4" and 3 1/4"
Ribbon - pg 55 - Accent 2 and Accent 3 - cut at 1"

The white square is cut at 4 1/4" by 4 3/4" and is embossed.

Have a fun day!

Materials used:  CTMH Artiste cartridge, Provocraft Swiss Dots embossing folder, miscellaneous paper that I'm trying to use up!

Happy Mail Day!

Yesterday was an awesome mail day!  Why you ask?  Because Canada Post delivered my order from CTMH, which included the Artiste Suite!  Can't wait to play today!!

(sorry about the quality of the pic, I took it with my iPod!)

Have a crafty day!

Another Perfect Day ...

and the weather's nice too!

I was trying out this technique today  (http://stamptv.ning.com/video/pillow-top-background) and decided to use Perfect Day again ... too bad the front covers up the background so much but it was an easy technique to do ... I'll try again with a smaller stamp to show more of the effect!

Materials used:  CTMH Perfect Day, CTMH Slate ink, CTMH Edge Distresser, miscellaneous paper

A Little Birdie told me ...

Good morning!

It's a lovely sunny day after the thunder and lightening storm we had last night - a welcome sight for sure!

This is the card I made for my hubby's 50th just this past month ... I'll have to find the link where I found out how to do the inside of the card and the outside of the card uses the June Stamp of the Month set and will update. [here is the link:  http://flowerbug.typepad.com/my_weblog/2012/05/fun-pop-up-birthday-card-tutorial.html]

Oh and great news, my Artiste cart has shipped - can't wait to play once it arrives!  Have a great day!

I Miss the Beach!

Hello!

I just had to get into the craft room today but was feeling under-inspired so I pulled out a stamp set I HAD to have - but of course hadn't used yet - to see what came of it ... I love the beach and wish we still went up to Parksville for our week of bliss but we haven't done that in more than a few years now ... maybe again in a couple of years once everyone has settled down a bit ... in the meantime, here is a card that brings the beach to me - any day spent at the beach is indeed a "Perfect Day"!  [Thanks Nancy for reminding me about this set!]
Materials Used (CTMH unless otherwise noted):
Perfect Day stamp set, Baker's Twine from the Neutral assortment, Cocoa Ink (to sponge the edges), and the Edge Distresser, SU! Crumb Cake ink, SU! Dimensionals, Momento Tuxedo Black ink, and paper that I'm trying to use up from I don't remember where!

Cricut Artiste Collection

One of the reasons I'm so excited about this company is that they've just released a new Cricut cartridge, developed just for them, which is part of the Cricut Artiste Collection.

If you want to take a look at all the images, here is the link from the Cricut.com site - it has the booklet as well as the how-to-put-it-all together booklet (scroll down and it's under Cartridge Resources).

I can't wait to get mine and if you'd like it too, just click on the shop with me link to the right of this post!  If it's anything like the Cricut Art Philosophy Collection, you WILL love it!  I'm still learning new things to do with that one!

Hope you all have a wonderful Saturday!  The sun is out and it looks to be a beautiful day!

Hello!

Well, here is my first blog post as a brand new Close to My Heart Consultant!  I'm so happy to have taken this step and admittedly a bit nervous too ... we'll see where this road leads ... the product is great and affordable (currently, there no difference in price for U.S. and Canadian customers and I LOVE that) and from what I have seen, the company is a good one to be associated with!  I'm looking forward to this new journey :)  Let me know how I can help you with your papercrafting needs/wants/desires!

Will try to get some cards up soon!
